Charity Christmas Breather Yoga & Sound Bath Meditation

Saturday December 15th 3.30pm - 5.30pm

Great Broughton Village Hall

Maria Dowson, Yoga teacher and Adrienne Woods , Sound Therapist are coming together to offer a breather from the Christmas chaos with a refreshing late afternoon of Yoga and Sound Bath Meditation.

We have left the day time free for you to get the Christmas shopping done then come and end the day blissfully with us. We start with a lovely hour of yoga movement in candlelight to release stress and tension from the body and to prepare us to come into stillness for a beautiful soothing hour of sound bath meditation.

The sound bath is a healing therapy that uses sound to induce a meditative state. Become totally present to what is, as you enter a world of vibration and sensation. A complete immersion in the soothing sounds of Tibetan singing bowls, gongs, crystal bowls, bells, rain sticks, shakers and rattles. The vibrations can reduce stress and pain, lower your heart rate, relieve anxiety and simply leave you feeling lush and relaxed.

Yorkshire Yoga Weekend: 11-13th November 2016 (Now full)

PLUS: Yorkshire Yoga Weekend 2! 18-20th November, 2016. Same as below but probably a gentler focus for yoga postures and a more therapeutic approach – I.e. How yoga can make a difference specifically in your body/mind/life. Also more suitable for the less mobile and sprightly!

What Jen has to say about the retreat.

I LOVE Yorkshire, and being on the road I miss it terribly. So although I usually teach and practice yoga in terribly glamourous, exotic locations, I am delighted to be coming home to host and teach in the North, finally!! Come and join us for a weekend of nourishing yoga, food and company.

What happens on retreat?

Finding your yoga is an ever-evolving journey. What works for you now, may not work for you in the future; you may have tried several types in the past and not found your perfect style or your favourite teacher. Like all forms of self-enquiry, you just have to keep asking until you find an answer that resonates with you.

On retreat you will have the chance to talk about yourself and your situation and what you hope to gain from yoga and what you would like more of/less of in your life. I can help to give you guidance about which direction might most benefit you. It may be a physical asana practice, a meditation practice, a book recommendation or just a film we watch together. Hopefully something that you experience on retreat will help you to connect with yourself and the world around you and to make positive changes toward a life with less suffering.

Food and nourishment.

Every individual has their own likes, dislikes, constitution, dosha, intolerances, allergies and a whole minefield of other food factors to consider. We provide a sattvic, yogic diet which is ethically sourced and lovingly prepared. It is vegetarian, with many vegan options, based on juices and smoothies, salads, soups, cooked stews and whole grains. Meal times are designed for optimum digestion.
